Police execute warrant in Basford and uncover large scale drug operation

Police gave two suspected drug dealers a wake-up call they won’t forget when they carried out an early morning raid on their home.

Officers executed a warrant just after 6am on Monday, January 23, at an address in Ladbrooke Crescent in Basford.

Cocaine was found all over the bathroom floor and toilet with more cocaine found in a bedroom.

It is believed the suspects had attempted to flush their drugs down the toilet as officers came in.

In the living room, officers found 57 large canisters of nitrous oxide.

Half a kilo of cannabis, a tub containing more loose cannabis, eight mobile phones, around £600 in cash, a number of scales, more loose cocaine, and a knife were also recovered.

Deal bags and hundreds of balloons were also found as well as clothes worth thousands of pounds.

Two men, aged 19 and 43, were arrested for drug offences and are currently in custody.

Neighbourhood Inspector Gordon Fenwick, who covers the Basford area, said: “This was a significant result for the team and shows our no-nonsense approach to drug dealing in our area.

“Investigations are now underway to determine the scale of this operation.

“Initial inquiries suggest this was large scale, with eight mobile phones and a significant amount of drugs recovered.

“We have also recovered evidence of packaging which means these drugs seem to be ready for onward supply.

“Drug dealing has an immense impact on communities. I hope this result sends out a clear message to those who think they can do it.

“We will be paying you a visit and doing everything in our power to see that you spend time behind bars.”
