Drug gang members jailed for a combined 166 years
Two drug gangs and leading suppliers who plagued Nottinghamshire’s streets with heroin and cocaine have been locked up for more than 150 years. More than a dozen drug dealers were directly involved in an illicit operation that saw the area flooded with more than ten kilos of Class A drugs from different parts of the UK.
Police reach out to Chinese speaking community
Visiting students and other members of Nottingham’s Chinese Community are being reminded of how the police can help them. Working in partnership with the city’s universities, Nottinghamshire Police has produced two short Chinese language videos designed to break down barriers and encourage reporting of hate incidents.
Drug trafficker who exploited vulnerable young people is jailed
A drug trafficker who was part of an organised crime group that sold heroin and cocaine from Nottinghamshire to other parts of the country has been locked up. Forrest Bentick was effectively running a drugs line for two months between Nottingham and Banbury, Oxfordshire, on behalf of gang leader Shekeil Sands who was coordinating this supply chain from within prison.
Police launch appeal after vehicles have their tyres slashed
Police are seeking the public’s help after six vehicles had their tyres slashed. Officers are investigating after three vans and three cars, parked in Park Row and East Circus Street, Nottingham city centre, had their tyres punctured with a sharp instrument.
Police find large cannabis grow after raid on house
A suspect has appeared in court after police discovered a large cannabis grow inside a house during an early morning raid. Officers found around 200 plants and growing equipment after executing a search warrant at the home in Chesterfield Road North, Mansfield, on Monday (27 March) at around 7am.
Jail for burglar seen running through street with stolen safe
A burglar caught running down a street carrying a safe he’d stolen has been locked up. Joshua Deverill was seen entering a flat in Ogle Street, Hucknall, at around 3pm on 8 November 2022. Twenty minutes later he emerged with a black safe in his hands.
Violent rapist jailed for 12 years
A violent sexual predator who repeatedly raped a woman has been locked up for 12 years. Robert Taylor also threatened her at knifepoint and assaulted her, leaving her with severe injuries, during his attack at an address in Mansfield.
Pair arrested after police find weapons in raid
Police arrested two people after finding a number of weapons including a machete when they raided a property. Officers discovered the weapons in a bedroom at the shared accommodation in St Stephen’s Road, Sneinton, after executing a warrant at around 11am today (29 March).
Police release CCTV image of three men they want to trace after man assaulted in Newark
Police have released a CCTV image of three men they want to trace after an unprovoked assault left a man in hospital. The incident happened just after 2am on Sunday, 26 March, in Middle Gate in Newark. Two men had been on a night out and were making their way to another pub when they were attacked by three men.
Prolific shoplifter put behind bars
A persistent shoplifter who targeted a number of stores during a two-week crime spree has been jailed. Wayne Haywood, aged 38, brazenly walked into convenience stores, chemists and other shops in Clifton and The Meadows to swipe items from the shelves.
Attacker jailed after assaulting woman and hitting man with baseball bat
A violent offender who assaulted and threatened to kill a woman he met in the pub was arrested after punching and hitting another man with a baseball bat outside a hotel. Luke Hancock attacked the woman on 3 December 2022 - just days after meeting her.
Suspect arrested after car crashes into pub
A man has been arrested after a reported stolen car smashed into the side of a pub. Officers were alerted to a vehicle being taken from Thackeray’s Lane, Woodthorpe, shortly after 8pm yesterday (Monday 27 March).
Suspect due in court after police pursuit
A man is due to appear in court after police pursued and stopped a suspected stolen car. Officers on patrol in Bestwood spotted the vehicle, which had been reported stolen from the Long Eaton area of Derbyshire, at around 11.15am on Monday (27 March).
Appeal after dog reported stolen
Police have launched an appeal after a dog was reported stolen. It is believed the young Pomeranian, called Nala (pictured), escaped from a garden in Churchhill Drive, Newark, on 10 March.

Police investigating a shop theft have released images of two people they’d like to speak to. Officers were called to Morrisons in King’s Road, Newark, after the store was targeted by shoplifters.
Jail for prolific burglar who targeted victim’s homes as they slept
A burglar who broke into their victim’s home while they slept has been locked up. Robert Brammer was uncovered as the burglar after he was found crouching behind a hedge while trying people’s car doors.
Pair arrested over ‘Ponzi investment scam’
Two people have been arrested as part of an investigation into an alleged Ponzi investment scam. Nottinghamshire Police received a number of calls last week relating to the alleged fraud.
Suspect due in court after series of shop thefts
A suspect is due to appear in court charged with 11 thefts from shops and supermarkets. Police were called after the incidents at stores in Clifton and The Meadows between 8 and 20 March 2023.
Thieves warned as police and Crimestoppers team up to tackle fuel theft
Nottinghamshire Police is this week supporting Crimestoppers new campaign on tackling harmful fuel theft in Bassetlaw. The charity has today (Monday 27 March) launched a fuel theft campaign to raise awareness and encourage local people to report issues either to the police or stay completely anonymous and report to Crimestoppers especially in the Blyth and Harworth area.
New scheme to improve the safety of women in gyms
A new scheme is set to be launched to improve the safety of women who feel harassed or receive unwanted attention in Nottingham’s gyms. Eleanor Smalley, a former PCSO and now Project Manager for the Newark and Sherwood Safer Streets initiative, became aware there was more that could be done to protect women after experiencing first-hand an uncomfortable situation in her own gym.
