A new police operation to combat distraction thefts in Nottingham city centre is showing early signs of success. Neighbourhood officers launched Operation Cloud two weeks ago following a rise in mobile thefts at places including fast-food outlets and coffee shops.

Man charged after theft of £249 headphones
A suspected shoplifter was arrested after he allegedly removed a security tag from wireless headphones, put them in his pocket and attempted to leave without paying. Security guards at John Lewis at the Victoria Centre called the police after detaining the man shortly before 4pm on Monday (9 January).

A suspected hotel burglar was arrested after cops spotted him while carrying out patrols in Nottingham city centre. An investigation was launched after a man entered a private luggage area at Premier Inn, in Angel Row, and stole a bag containing a £1,200 laptop on 3 January.

Police have arrested a suspect after homophobic language was reportedly heard at a football match. Officers were first made aware of the reports during the first half of Nottingham Forest’s home tie with Wolverhampton Wanderers last night (11 January).

Six people were arrested after patrolling police officers broke up a fight outside a nightclub. A team of Response officers were on patrol in Talbot Street, Nottingham, when they saw an altercation between two groups.

Police have arrested two teenagers wanted in connection with a robbery in St Ann’s – and recovered a machete hid down the trousers of one of the suspects. Officers were investigating reports of a robbery on Wednesday, December 14, in Pym Street, where the victim was lured out of his address by men known to him.
