A burglar who left his blood at a crime scene after stealing a car has been jailed. John Wilson, aged 39, broke into a home in Sandfield Road, Arnold, on 11 April 2023 and carried out an untidy search of the property. He stole a jewellery box, purse, two sets of car keys and the car which was parked on the driveway.
Two brazen shoplifters who carried out numerous raids on Nottingham stores have been handed prison sentences. Rebecca Williams stole items from Co-op stores in Sherwood and Carrington on multiple occasions from 22 April until 25 May this year – including meat, cheese, chocolate and laundry products.
A prolific shoplifter has been jailed and banned from a number of shops. Laura Dyer stole over £400 worth of meat and laundry items across six thefts between 2 March and 7 May 2023.

A dangerous driver who crashed a stolen car during a police pursuit has been jailed. Louis Denham, aged 26, led police on a lengthy pursuit after stealing the car from Radcliffe-on-Trent in the early hours of 10 April this year.
A knife-carrier has been locked up after being spotted and detained by the county knife crime team. The specialist team of officers were out on patrol in the Mansfield area when they spotted Maleek Lindsay acting suspiciously. After realising police were closing in on him, Lindsay tried to dart away from officers, but the foot pursuit didn’t last long before they caught up with him.
A violent bully who beat and strangled his former partner has been jailed. Wesley Cain, aged 33, also threatened to kill the woman during a six-month campaign of intimidation. Cain, who also goes by the name of Wesley Blade, launched an attack on the victim on 25 May 2022 when he punched her to the head on multiple occasions before strangling her until she was unconscious.
A sex attacker who was caught on CCTV assaulting a woman in a hotel corridor has been jailed. Stefanita Mosescu, aged 42, had been on a night out in Nottingham city centre before following the victim back to a hotel in Fletcher Gate in the early hours of 3 November last year.
A smash-and-grab burglar who broke into a restaurant and stole cash and alcohol has been jailed after police pinned him to the crime from fingerprints left at the scene and from CCTV footage. Jonathan Blundell smashed a window to gain entry to Bella Vita, in Main Street, Ollerton. Cash was taken from a till and tips jar and bottles of spirits were also taken.
A Twitter user who encouraged others to commit terrorism has been locked up. Ajmal Shahpal published tweets on 26 September 2020 showing support for a terrorist who attacked members of the public close to Charlie Hebdo's former offices in Paris a day earlier.

Leigham Myers admitted 16 shop thefts and six counts of begging when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court in January and was sentenced to 16 weeks’ jail suspended for 12 months.
