Police have adopted the universal language of football in a bid to reach out to people seeking asylum in Mansfield. Officers in the town have teamed up with the Mansfield Town Community Trust to offer free weekly football sessions to young men staying at a local hotel.

A knife-carrier has been locked up after being spotted and detained by the county knife crime team. The specialist team of officers were out on patrol in the Mansfield area when they spotted Maleek Lindsay acting suspiciously. After realising police were closing in on him, Lindsay tried to dart away from officers, but the foot pursuit didn’t last long before they caught up with him.
Police closed down two cannabis factories and arrested two people after executing early morning warrants. Officers broke through the front door of a property in Lemont Road in Forest Town, Mansfield, on Monday 22 May. Two rooms were being used in the property to grow cannabis and the electricity had been bypassed.

A driver knocked a police officer to the ground with his car before then ploughing it straight into a tree. Ian Stone initially attracted the attention of officers when he ran over the foot of a pedestrian in Mansfield high street. The pedestrian fell to the ground in pain after being clipped by the car as he stepped off a kerb outside a busy nightclub in Clumber Street.
Police investigating the theft of a large quantity of cosmetic products have released images of three men they would like to speak to. Skincare products worth more than £3,500 were taken from Boots, in St Peter’s Retail Park, Mansfield, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday 22 March. Officers would like to trace the three men pictured in these CCTV images.
A cannabis cultivator has been jailed after police discovered a large grow at his house. More than 150 plants were found at Oetjon Agalliu’s home when police raided the building. Officers carried out the pre-planned warrant after receiving intelligence that a grow was operating inside.
Detectives investigating a serious assault have charged a suspect. Officers were called to Sherwood Street, Warsop, at around 10.30am on 29 March 2023 after reports a gas service engineer had been attacked with a metal pole.
Police have issued a warning after two women were targeted by pickpockets. Both offences happened in the Stockwell Gate area of Mansfield shortly after the victims had visited their banks. The first victim, aged in her eighties, had several hundred pounds in cash taken from her as she walked around a shop just before 12.30pm on Monday 20 March 2023.
Multiple suspects were arrested as police moved to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs in Mansfield. Two raids were carried out on Wednesday (5 April) as heroin, cocaine and cannabis were all seized.
A man who attacked someone in their home before later trying to set fire to the house has been jailed. Matthew Pallett was accompanied by associates both times when he launched separate raids on the man’s property. The first incident saw the 45-year-old show up at the house in Mansfield in the middle of the night while he was drunk.
Police caught a criminal red-handed after officers pursued a stolen camera which had been swiped from inside a car. Officers from the Mansfield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team were called at around 9.45am on 24 March 2023 to a car break-in in High Oakham Road, Mansfield.
A cannabis gardener who tended to a large grow inside a house has been jailed. Ardi Salikaj was found hiding amongst the plants in one of four rooms that were being used to house the drugs.
A man who wielded an axe during an argument in the street has been jailed. Mark Beresford, aged 39, was brandishing the weapon during a violent dispute with another man in Winster Way, Mansfield, shorty before 3pm on Wednesday 2 February.
A pair of violent criminals who wielded a hammer and a dog chain in a vicious street attack have been jailed. Owen Gamlin and Bradley Hodgkinson launched the attack in Westfield Lane, Mansfield, as tensions over an alleged unpaid debt boiled over.
